Contactless payment cards are accepted for payment in all Latvijas Pasts post offices

To improve the convenience of payments in Latvijas Pasts post offices, the company has implemented the introduction of payment card terminals of the latest generation in all post offices. Payment cards can now be used for payment at nearly 600 customer checkout points in all of the 377 Latvijas Pasts post offices. Payment card terminals allow for payment by contactless technology payment cards – the share of such payments for the services received in Latvijas Pasts post offices already reaches 35% of the total amount of non-cash payments.

Latvijas Pasts has implemented the introduction of the payment card terminals of the latest generation at almost 600 workplaces in all of the 377 post offices, which began along with the already completed project of technological modernisation of the postal network by introducing modern cash register systems and installing electronic signature devices for the receipt of registered items.

“The daily operations of Latvijas Pasts are related to customer service; therefore we are active in identifying the wishes of our customers to ensure that the use of postal services is increasingly in line with demand. Modern payment options expand the receipt of postal services, speed up the customer assistance and increase the satisfaction of our customers not only in the post offices of cities and towns but also in regions. We have noticed that our customers are active users of contactless cards, so we are pleased that we keep pace with the modern technologies,” Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, points out.

Contactless cards have been used in 35% of the total amount of customer transactions when making non-cash payments for goods and services in the post offices.

The introduction of the payment card terminals has been provided in cooperation with the Joint Stock Company Banka Citadele

In recent years Latvijas Pasts has been actively implementing various projects to enhance the postal services and quality and improve the postal item delivery processes.
