The Greeting House, a special Latvijas Pasts post office at the Christmas market of the Dome Square will open its doors on the 30th of November 2019

The Greeting House, a special Latvijas Pasts post office at the Christmas market of the Dome Square will open its doors to visitors on the eve of the First Advent this year too. Its visitors will have the opportunity to send season’s greetings with the latest stamps of the Christmas series and stamp them with a special postmark of the Greeting House. Latvijas Pasts encourages the little residents of Latvia to send a letter to Father Christmas in a timely manner and asks their parents to make sure that the correct address of the recipient and the sender is indicated on the letter and that a stamp with a suitable face value is affixed.

The Greeting House in the Dome Square will welcome customers from the 30th of November to the end of the year, the 31st of December. This special post office will be open from 10 AM to 8 PM Sundays through Thursdays and from 10 AM to 10 PM Fridays and Saturdays, and from 10 AM to 1 PM on the last day of the year, the 31st of December. 

The Greeting House offers the opportunity to buy Christmas stamps released by Latvijas Pasts, holiday postcards, as well as gifts and souvenirs. Only greetings dispatched from the festive market may be stamped with a special Greeting House postmark, and they can be sent to the addressee right from the Dome Square.

Latvijas Pasts encourages the little residents of Latvia to remember to send a letter to Father Christmas and asks their parents to make sure that the accurate Father Christmas’ address is indicated on the letter and stamps with a suitable face value are affixed.

All letters which children send to Father Christmas will be delivered by Latvijas Pasts to the letter-box of Father Christmas’ office in Latvia. If the recipient indicated on the letter is Santa Claus or Grandfather Frost, the item will travel to Finland or Russia. In order for the letter to reach the letter-box of Father Christmas, it is important to indicate the correct address and affix stamps with a suitable face value.

An ordinary Class A letter to Father Christmas in Latvia can be sent using a stamp with a face value of € 0.57, to Santa Claus in Finland – with a face value of € 0.78 and to Grandfather Frost in Russia – with a face value of € 0.85.
