Delayed deliveries of items to addressees in some countries are expected until the end-of-the-year holidays

Taking into account that December is the busiest month of the year for the postal sector worldwide, with the amount of the processed postal items increasing several times, postal establishments in some countries have announced deadlines for delivering postal items and express mail items to such countries in order to reach the addressees before Christmas.

In order for holiday greetings and gifts sent by post to reach their addressees in a timely manner, postal establishments in some countries have announced deadlines for delivering postal items and express mail items to such countries so that the addressees can receive them before Christmas.

So far this information has been provided to the Universal Postal Union by the United States (U.S.), the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) and Costa Rica. Letters and small packets must arrive in the U.S. by the 7th of December and express mail items – by the 19th of December; letters and small packets must be delivered to the U.A.E. by the 18th of December and express mail items – by the 19th of December; finally, letters and small packets must arrive in Costa Rica by the 13th of December and express mail items – by the 18th of December.

Postal establishments of the mentioned countries have indicated that if postal items are received in those countries after the dates listed, their deliveries to the addressees before Christmas may be delayed.

Latvijas Pasts encourages customers not to put off the sending of greetings and gifts to the last minute. When planning the sending, a number of important conditions should be taken into account: when estimating the delivery time of the item, attention must be given to the distance to the addressee’s country, an accurate address must be indicated on the item and the item must be paid for using stamps of an appropriate face value. The last day for delivery of items before Christmas this year is the 23rd of December and for delivery before the turn of the year – the 30th of December.
