Fast pick-up counters for quicker customer service will operate in 19 Latvijas Pasts post offices in December; opening hours will be extended in five post offices

In December, which is marked by a multi-fold increase in the volume of postal items in postal establishments around the world, Latvijas Pasts has increased the number of post offices with fast pick-up counters ensuring the delivery of items without delivery charges to secure more efficient customer service. The fast pick-up counters are operating in the 19 biggest and most frequently visited post offices in Riga, Kurzeme, Latgale and Zemgale. In addition, the opening hours have been extended in five post offices in Riga, Jelgava and Liepāja.

The fast pick-up counters are operating in the post offices in Riga, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Kuldīga, Liepāja, Rēzekne, Saldus, Talsi, Tukums and Ventspils, ensuring faster delivery of items in a total of 19 post offices. It is planned that the fast pick-up counters will operate until the end of the year, but, if necessary, the duration of their operation and their number will be extended.

Using the fast pick-up counters, where no other services are available during the hours with the biggest influx of customers every workday, it is possible to receive registered letters, small packets and parcels not requiring the payment of the customs duty or cash-on-delivery charges.

A detailed list of the post offices with fast pick-up counters for the delivery of items and the opening hours of those counters is available here.

To improve customer convenience, five post offices have extended their opening hours in December: Riga post offices No. 10 and 11 are also open on Saturdays during this period; post centre Jelgava is working for two hours longer on Saturdays and Jelgava post office No. 7 – on Wednesdays, while Liepāja post office No. 12 is servicing customers for one hour longer both on weekdays and Saturdays. A detailed list of the post offices with extended opening hours can be found here.

Analysing the current situation regarding the acceptance and delivery of items, the need for additional changes aimed at improving the customer service in the post offices in the pre-holiday period will be assessed.
