Exchange of postal items with the UK after the 31st of January 2020 – according to the current procedure

The regulation governing the exchange of postal items between Latvia and the United Kingdom will remain unchanged after the 31st of January 2020, when the transition period for the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union (EU) begins: the tariffs and procedures for postal items which are currently in force will stay the same.

The UK’s official withdrawal from the European Union starts on the 31st of January 2020 with a transitional period until the end of the year, the 31st of December. During this time, the EU and the UK intend to agree on a framework for their future relationship, but so far the exchange of postal items with the UK after the 31st of January will remain unchanged.

This means that after the 31st of January items from Latvia to the UK and from the UK to Latvia will be accepted and delivered without any changes in the tariffs and procedures.

As soon as further decisions regarding the relations between the EU and the UK are known, the postal establishments of the respective countries will also be able to clarify their future operations, and Latvijas Pasts will immediately inform its customers and the public at large.
