Due to the emergency situation Latvijas Pasts closes all post offices at weekends and cuts opening hours from the 17th of March

Due to the state of emergency and the necessary measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, Latvijas Pasts will suspend the operation of all post offices on Saturdays and Sundays from the 21st of March 2020 and will cut opening hours of a number of post offices located in shopping centres across the country from the 17th of March. Riga post office No. 27 at 1 Akadēmijas laukums, which operates in the building of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, will be closed until the 14th of April. Latvijas Pasts urges its customers to evaluate the need to visit the post offices and to make maximum use of the remote application for postal services.

Starting from the weekend, the 21st of March, all Latvijas Pasts post offices throughout the country will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays until further notice. In addition, 15 post offices in various shopping centres across the country will have reduced working hours also on weekdays from the 17th of March. Riga post office No. 27 in the building of the Latvian Academy of Sciences will be closed from the 21st of March to the 14th of April. As this post office does not have delivery functions, there will be no changes in delivery of items to customers, and the closest place to receive other postal services is Riga post office No. 50 at 2 Stacijas laukums.

The list of the post offices with a change in opening hours on weekdays is available here.

Latvijas Pasts reminds you that from the 16th of March a new procedure will be in place for item storage at post offices – instead of the previous 30 days items will be stored for 60 days and customers will be able to receive this service free of charge. So far, customers have been charged a fee for storing items at post offices for more than 10 days. As a result of the new procedure customers do not have to visit the post office immediately to receive their items as they will not be returned to the sender within 60 days and will be kept at the post office free of charge. Latvijas Pasts encourages customers to take advantage of this opportunity and not to visit post offices if the items do not contain urgent documents or absolutely necessary items, thus helping to reduce the flow of visitors at the post offices.

In order to avoid spending more time than necessary at a post office, Latvijas Pasts encourages you to make maximum use of the company’s mobile application, which allows you to apply for the service remotely and show up at the post office just in time for receiving your service, as well as to redirect inbound registered items to one of the Latvijas Pasts parcel lockers. You can apply for services remotely in 86 largest and busiest post offices throughout Latvia; the list of these post offices is available here.

Latvijas Pasts continues to evaluate ensuring the further optimal operation of post offices and delivery of items, taking into account the emergency situation.
