Latvijas Pasts currently provides delivery of domestic and cross-border items in full, although delays are possible

At the moment Latvijas Pasts fully ensures the delivery of postal items both domestically and to foreign countries. International deliveries are delayed taking into account the emergency situation in many countries to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, because following the suspension of air passenger transportation Latvijas Pasts is directing them through various alternative routes. At present the traditional full-spectrum post offices of Latvijas Pasts have not stopped on-site customer service.

Although international passenger air transportation, which is used to deliver postal items in most countries of the world, has been cancelled for security reasons, Latvijas Pasts has currently found alternative solutions for cross-border delivery of items, and delivery of items to addressees abroad is being ensured. At the same time it should be kept in mind that these deliveries are delayed subject to the restrictions imposed in many countries to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

Domestic deliveries to recipients in Latvia are provided in full, but due to security measures such deliveries may take longer – subscribed press, letters, small packets and all other items are delivered according to the same procedure as before.

The provision of on-site postal services is currently suspended only at small post offices in rural areas, which are located in the premises of the local governments and which have so far worked only for one hour per day due to the low demand for postal services. Most of these local government institutions are now temporarily closed for safety reasons.

Latvijas Pasts has a total of more than 600 post offices across the country, of which 357 are traditional full-spectrum post offices and 253 are small post offices in the premises of the local governments where face-to-face service is currently suspended. As before, residents of these small postal office areas can request the receipt of postal services at their place of residence by applying over the phone. A detailed list of these post offices and the phone numbers for requesting postal services is available here.

Latvijas Pasts has created a special question-answer section in the news section of the company’s website www.pasts.lv, where the information is regularly updated.
