Demand for services in Latvijas Pasts parcel locker network shows a stable growth also in June 2020

As in previous months, the demand for services in Latvijas Pasts parcel locker network demonstrated a steady growth also in June 2020. Compared to the beginning of 2020, the parcel locker services in June were used by 21% more, while in general the average load of Latvijas Pasts parcel lockers has increased by more than 40% since March. In June a parcel locker was also installed in the post centre Sakta, Riga, increasing Latvijas Pasts parcel locker network to 62 postal terminals. As part of the modernisation of the network, one third of the total number of parcel lockers has been replaced with parcel lockers of the newer generation.

In less than a year since the purchase of the network the demand for receiving and sending items through Latvijas Pasts parcel lockers has significantly increased, especially intensifying since March this year. Also in June 2020, despite the Midsummer holiday period and the short month, there was a steady increase in demand: compared to the first months of the year, the demand increased by 21%, while the total turnover of items in Latvijas Pasts parcel locker network in March – June grew by more than 40%.

In June a parcel locker was also installed in the post centre Sakta, Riga, thus bringing the total number of the parcel lockers in Latvijas Pasts parcel locker network to 62. In turn, as modernisation of the network continues and the capacity is being improved, one third or more than 33% of the existing parcel lockers has been replaced, increasing the total capacity by more than 20%.

In June Latvijas Pasts replaced the existing terminals in Ķekava, Kuldīga, Rēzekne and Ventspils with a newer generation of more spacious lockers, but at the beginning of July the same was done also in Dobele.

Latvijas Pasts acquired the parcel locker network in August 2019, significantly expanding the item delivery options. As a result more than 600 post offices, 1,200 postmen and 100 couriers of Latvijas Pasts, as well as a network of over 50 Circle-K fuel stations, all rendering item delivery services, have now been supplemented with 62 parcel lockers throughout the country, which are currently being further developed and modernised.
