The period of retention of items in Latvijas Pasts parcel lockers is extended to seven days
To improve customer convenience, Latvijas Pasts retains items in parcel lockers for seven days as of September 2020: this decision was made due to stabilisation in demand for parcel lockers and increase in their capacity. Latvijas Pasts continues to modernise its parcel locker network by replacing parcel lockers with a newer generation of lockers offering a larger capacity, as well as plans to equip them with payment card terminals and supplement them with new lockers.

In order to enhance customer convenience and expand the possibilities of using parcel lockers, Latvijas Pasts has extended the period of retention of items in parcel lockers. The new retention period of seven days applies to items placed in parcel lockers from the 1st of September. In turn, items placed before the 31st of August are retained in parcel lockers in accordance with the previously determined period – three days. This decision was taken due to stabilisation in demand for parcel lockers and the implemented processes of modernisation of the parcel locker network. As a result, the total capacity of parcel lockers was increased by more than 1,000 locker boxes.

Latvijas Pasts continues the modernisation of the parcel locker network and plans to equip all parcel lockers with the latest generation of payment card terminals in the near future, which will allow for prompt payment for the sending services, including by using contactless payment technologies. At the same time a significant expansion of the network with new parcel lockers is planned, and for its implementation Latvijas Pasts has announced procurement for the purchase of 60 new parcel lockers, envisaging their gradual placement both this year and in 2021 and planning to invest up to one million euro in this project.

As security measures must still be strictly observed, Latvijas Pasts encourages customers to make maximum use of the parcel locker network for sending and receiving items, as well as to use personal protective equipment and to practice proper hygiene. Latvijas Pasts acquired the parcel locker network in August 2019, significantly expanding the item delivery and sending options, which are ensured by more than 600 post offices, postmen and couriers, as well as a network of Circle-K fuel stations and over 60 parcel lockers throughout Latvia.
