Opening hours of 10 Latvijas Pasts post offices in shopping centres have been changed in the state of emergency

Due to the state of emergency declared in Latvia and the restrictions imposed on the operation of shopping centres in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Latvijas Pasts is changing the business hours of 10 post offices from the 14th of November 2020 – they will not be open on Saturdays and Sundays. Latvijas Pasts reminds you that the fact of delivery of items during the state of emergency is registered in smart devices by postal employees and urges customers to assess the need for visiting a post office, as well as to make maximum use of the opportunity to apply for postal services remotely.

Starting from the coming weekend, the 14th of November, the Saturday and Sunday business hours of 10 Latvijas Pasts post offices in shopping centres in Riga, Mārupe and Jelgava have been changed until the 6th of December or until further decisions – they will not be open on Saturdays and Sundays. This decision was made due to the state of emergency declared in Latvia and the restrictions imposed on the operation of shopping centres in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The following eight post offices in Riga will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays during the state of emergency: Riga post office No. 3 at the shopping centre Mols, 46 Krasta Street; Riga post office No. 17 at the shopping centre Domina, 3 Ieriķu Street; Riga post office No. 20 at the shopping centre Dole, 357 Maskavas Street; Riga post office No. 22 at the shopping park Alfa, 372 Brīvības gatve; Riga post office No. 25 at the shopping centre Spice, 29 Lielirbes Street; Riga post office No. 33 at the shopping centre Akropole, 257b Maskavas Street; Riga post office No. 50 at the shopping centre Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums; and Riga post office No. 57 at the shopping centre Mego, 2 Prūšu Street. One post office in Mārupe and one in Jelgava will also be closed on the weekend: Mārupe post office at the shopping centre Mārupe, 31 Daugavas Street, and Jelgava post office No. 5 at the shopping centre RAF, 48 Rīgas Street.

Latvijas Pasts reminds you that in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers Order the fact of delivery of registered, insured and express mail items during the state of emergency is recorded in electronic devices by Latvijas Pasts employees instead of customers: in smartphones by postmen, in mobile terminals by Eksprespasts couriers and in the electronic signature devices of cash register systems by post office operators. This procedure eliminates the risk which could arise when customers sign in mobile smart devices during the spread of COVID-19. The described system will remain in force until the state of emergency is lifted or until new decisions are made.

In order to avoid spending more time than necessary at a post office, Latvijas Pasts encourages you to make maximum use of the company’s mobile application, which allows you to apply for the service remotely and show up at the post office just in time for receiving your service. You can apply for services remotely in 86 largest and busiest post offices throughout Latvia; the list of these post offices is available here.

Latvijas Pasts continues to assess the optimal provision of post office operations and delivery of items, taking into account the emergency situation.
