Latvijas Pasts customers support a project of the charity organisation Ziedot.lv donating almost 11,000 euro in 2020
Despite the difficulties caused to the Latvian population by the COVID-19 pandemic, the customers visiting Latvijas Pasts post offices in 2020 were donating actively again, allocating almost 11,000 euro to the campaign POGA which is run by the charity organisation Ziedot.lv and which ensures the best specialist advice for children with neurological movement disorders. Support to 113 children will be provided thanks to the funds donated by Latvijas Pasts customers. Over the last eight years visitors of Latvijas Pasts have donated more than EUR 100,000 to the campaigns of Ziedot.lv, and the collection of donations at the post offices continues.

Funds for the implementation of the campaigns run by the charity organisation Ziedot.lv could be donated at Latvijas Pasts post offices throughout 2020, and this can also be done now. Despite the COVID-19 crisis, which has been affecting Latvia since March last year, restricting the possibilities to visit post offices and complicating people’s daily lives, last year Latvijas Pasts customers donated a total of 10,828 euro to the campaign of Ziedot.lv. This amount is sufficient to cover the cost of the case consultation committees composed of highly qualified specialists to assess the health status of 113 children this year.

When a child has a tummy ache or ear ache, when he or she sees bad dreams at night or has trouble speaking, moms and dads get upset. Every parent wants to help their child and see their child healthy. Sometimes illness is only temporary, but sometimes the symptoms may indicate a serious disease or a developmental disorder in the child. In this case advice of a knowledgeable and empathic specialist is needed to provide timely help to the child, and this can be ensured by Doctor POGA that understands and loves parents and children!

Doctor POGA is a charity campaign of Ziedot.lv that provides the best specialist advice for children with neurological movement disorders and makes it possible to receive an assessment of health condition by the case consultation committee composed of highly qualified specialists, identifying problems in time and assigning а therapy. A team of specialists includes a rehabilitation therapist, a neurologist, an orthopaedist and the head of POGA children’s rehabilitation; other functional specialists are also invited if necessary.

Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, expresses his profound gratitude to the company’s customers: “In a time full of uncertainty and challenges, our customers have had the opportunity to allocate a significant part of funds to those who are struggling even more. We are very grateful for this support, which will reach children and teenagers who need help through Ziedot.lv. Our customers are a great cooperation partner for the implementation of the good work of Ziedot.lv, so we say a big thank you to every supporter!”

Rūta Dimanta, Manager of Ziedot.lv, also warmly thanks Latvijas Pasts customers: “We highly appreciate the donations made by Latvijas Pasts customers, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic, when children with cerebral palsy are a risk group. These donations provide children with the opportunity to receive rehabilitation and support. Latvijas Pasts is a great example of socially responsible action, allowing residents to make their donations to support severely ill children in Latvia.”

The cooperation between Latvijas Pasts and Ziedot.lv in the collection of donations started at the end of 2013, and more than EUR 100,000 has been donated in the post offices during the eight years since its launch. In 2021 the collection of donations in Latvijas Pasts post offices will continue, calling on people to help children and adolescents to receive high-quality rehabilitation here in Latvia.
