Over 412,300 press subscriptions for 2021 have been processed

More than 412,300 press subscriptions have been received for delivery to addressees during the traditional three-month subscription campaign of Latvijas Pasts for 2021, including subscriptions taken out both at Latvijas Pasts and in publishing houses. Latvijas Pasts has processed slightly more subscriptions for 2021 than a year ago, with a significant – 24% – increase in the share of subscriptions made through the website www.abone.lv. There is still the opportunity to subscribe to your favourite periodicals at any of the post offices, from postmen or through the website www.abone.lv also after completion of the subscription campaign.

The traditional print media subscription campaign of Latvijas Pasts was held from the 1st of October to the end of December 2020, resulting in a total of 412,307 press subscriptions taken out through the subscription channels of Latvijas Pasts and in publishing houses. Latvijas Pasts had received 414,931 press subscriptions for delivery in 2020, and the fluctuations in the overall subscription outcome are minimal: despite the change in the format of some periodicals or the decision to stop publishing in print, as well as difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, almost as many subscriptions as a year ago have been taken out for 2021.

The overall subscription results of Latvijas Pasts subscription channels – post offices, postmen and the subscription website www.abone.lv – for 2021 have grown by 1.7% or more than 4,000 subscriptions compared to the 2020 subscription campaign. Significant changes can be seen in the choice of subscription channels, with a 24% increase in the number of subscriptions in the digital environment through www.abone.lv compared to the previous year’s campaign.

“The results of the subscription campaign confirm that nothing has dissuaded people in Latvia from the desire to read and, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty caused by it, people in this country want to know more. Reading various press publications is exactly what allows us to be more informed, and I am pleased that Latvijas Pasts is one of the important links which provides every resident of the country, regardless of where he or she lives, with the opportunity to read,” Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, points out.

Magazines account for 67% in the total structure of press subscriptions made. Most readers have subscribed to press for a longer period of time equal to 10–12 months: the number of such subscriptions amounts to 275,879 units or 67% of the total number of subscriptions for 2021.

Although the subscription campaign is over, there is still the opportunity to subscribe to your favourite periodicals for various periods in 2021 also after its completion: the newspapers and magazines issued in Latvia during the relevant subscription period will be delivered in two business days if the publisher has provided for this possibility; other periodicals will be delivered from the beginning of each full month, and the time of receiving international print media will depend on the schedule set by the provider and the specific subscription price period.

Latvijas Pasts offers the widest range of newspapers and magazines for subscription in Latvia, amounting to a total of 761 different press titles. They include newspapers and magazines published both in Latvia and abroad. Among them are 319 Latvian periodicals: 108 newspapers and 211 magazines.
