Seven Latvijas Pasts post offices at shopping centres in Riga resume work on Saturdays

Seven Latvijas Pasts post offices located at the shopping centres in Riga are resuming work on Saturdays as of the 23rd of January 2021 in strict compliance with the security measures established in the country to contain the spread of COVID-19. Taking into account the restrictions introduced in the country, until the end of the state of emergency Latvijas Pasts post offices provide all services available at them, but sell only the goods related to the provision of postal services, as well as some household goods, food, public transport tickets, press and personal protective equipment. Latvijas Pasts urges customers to make maximum use of the opportunity to apply for postal services remotely.

Due to the additional security measures imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19, the operations of shopping centres on weekends were restricted. As a result, the opening hours of several post offices in shopping centres changed, closing them to customers on Saturdays and Sundays from the 14th of November 2020. Now a decision was made to resume the work of these post offices on Saturdays as of the 23rd of January 2021.

The post offices in Riga resuming their operations on Saturdays as of the 23rd of January are: Riga post office No. 3 at the shopping centre Mols, 46 Krasta Street; Riga post office No. 17 at the shopping centre Domina, 3 Ieriķu Street; Riga post office No. 20 at the shopping centre Dole, 357 Maskavas Street; Riga post office No. 22 at the shopping park Alfa, 372 Brīvības gatve; Riga post office No. 25 at the shopping centre Spice, 29 Lielirbes Street; Riga post office No. 33 at the shopping centre Akropole, 257b Maskavas Street; and Riga post office No. 50 at the shopping centre Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums. The new opening hours of these post offices can be seen here

Contributing to the maximum circulation of postal items during the busy period at the turn of the year, Latvijas Pasts opened additionally 47 post offices across the country to work on Saturdays from the end of 2020 to the 23rd of January 2021. Four post offices will continue to provide services on Saturdays also after the 23rd of January: Riga post office No. 57 at 2 Prūšu Street; Kuldīga post office No. 1 at 34 Liepājas Street; Smiltene post office at 1 Dārza Street; and Valka post office No. 1 at 15 Semināra Street.

Taking into account the restrictions introduced in the country, until the end of the state of emergency Latvijas Pasts post offices continue to provide all the services available at them, but the goods that can be purchased there are only those related to the provision of postal services, such as stamps, envelopes, postcards, parcel packaging and adhesive tapes, as well as some household goods, food, public transport tickets, press, sanitisers and face and mouth covers.

Latvijas Pasts urges customers to be understanding, because in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 throughout the country, there are restrictions on the number of people who can stay in the premises of service providers at a time. Therefore, the capabilities to provide services at post offices have decreased and situations may arise where customers have to wait to receive their services while standing outside the post office and keeping a distance from each other.

To avoid having to wait for the needed postal service, Latvijas Pasts encourages you to make use of the company’s mobile application, which allows you to apply for the service remotely and show up at the post office just in time for receiving your service. You can apply for services remotely at 86 largest and busiest post offices throughout Latvia; the list of these post offices is available here

Latvijas Pasts continues to assess the optimal provision of post office operations and delivery of items, taking into account the state of emergency.
