Seven Latvijas Pasts post offices at shopping centres in Riga will also be open on Sundays from the 21st of February 2021

Seven Latvijas Pasts post offices located at the shopping centres in Riga are resuming work on Sundays as of the 21st of February 2021 in strict compliance with the security measures established in the country to contain the spread of COVID-19. Taking into account the new security requirements, a smaller number of customers may currently be served on the spot at post offices than before; therefore, Latvijas Pasts encourages customers to make maximum use of the opportunity to apply for postal services remotely, as well as redirect items to the pick-up point which suits them best.

Due to the additional security measures imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19, the operations of shopping centres on weekends were restricted. As a result, the opening hours of several post offices in shopping centres changed, closing them to customers on Saturdays and Sundays from the 14th of November 2020. From the 23rd of January 2021 these post offices resumed work on Saturdays, and from the 21st of February they will also be open on Sundays from 10 AM to 4 PM.

The post offices in Riga resuming their operations also on Sundays as of the 21st of February are: Riga post office No. 3 at the shopping centre Mols, 46 Krasta Street; Riga post office No. 17 at the shopping centre Domina, 3 Ieriķu Street; Riga post office No. 20 at the shopping centre Dole, 357 Maskavas Street; Riga post office No. 22 at the shopping park Alfa, 372 Brīvības gatve; Riga post office No. 25 at the shopping centre Spice, 29 Lielirbes Street; Riga post office No. 33 at the shopping centre Akropole, 257b Maskavas Street; and Riga post office No. 50 at the shopping centre Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums.

Latvijas Pasts urges customers to be understanding, because in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 throughout the country, there are restrictions on the number of people who may stay in the premises of service providers at a time. Therefore, the capabilities to provide services at post offices have decreased and situations may arise where customers have to wait to receive their services while standing outside the post office and keeping a distance from each other.

To avoid having to wait for the needed postal service, Latvijas Pasts encourages you to make use of the company’s mobile application, which allows you to apply for the service remotely and show up at the post office just in time for receiving your service. You can apply for services remotely at several dozens of the largest and busiest post offices throughout Latvia; the list of these post offices is available here

As an alternative to receiving registered items at post offices, Latvijas Pasts recommends customers to redirect these items to the pick-up point which suits them best, using the company’s mobile app. Remote redirection of any traceable, registered or insured postal item is possible to a home address, office address, parcel locker or any of the Circle K fuel stations. In order for seniors not to have to visit a post office to receive a pension in the Postal Settlement System, it is possible to apply for home delivery of the pension at the State Social Insurance Agency. Home delivery of the pension costs EUR 2.39. It is also possible to pay utility bills and other services bills through the postman.

Latvijas Pasts continues to assess the optimal provision of post office operations and delivery of items, taking into account the state of emergency.
