Domestic item deliveries by Eksprespasts, the provider of express mail services of Latvijas Pasts, demonstrate a 40% increase

The number of domestic items delivered by Eksprespasts of Latvijas Pasts, which specialises in the provision of express mail services, increased by 40% in 2020, while the number of serviced customers who use the e-sending tool to prepare items for sending demonstrated a significant growth of almost 150%. The mentioned tool is a particularly convenient way to send items during COVID-19, as it allows customers to prepare and send items without leaving home or office and without visiting a post office. In 2020 Eksprespasts, in cooperation with the National Health Service, delivered 6.9 million face masks, 0.8 million respirators and 2,500 safety goggles to 2,500 healthcare institutions across Latvia, continuing the cooperation in 2021 as well.

Due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, e-commerce has developed rapidly in Latvia, increasing the demand for the delivery of various types of goods. Eksprespasts, the provider of express mail services of Latvijas Pasts, has seen a significant growth in the number of domestic items, which has also been facilitated by customers’ desire to receive items as quickly as possible by courier without an on-site visit to the post office. In 2020 the volume of domestic Eksprespasts items increased by 40% compared to the previous year, and this trend also continues in 2021: in January and February the volume of express mail services grew by 37% compared to the same period last year.

Along with the impact of COVID-19, the number of serviced customers who used the e-sending tool to process items on the Eksprespasts website: https://expresspasts.lv/esutisana/ also increased in 2020. Thus in 2020 customers processed by 148% more items than in 2019. This is a particularly convenient way to send items during COVID-19, as it allows customers to prepare and send items without leaving their home or office and without visiting a post office in person.

Online processing of postal items is a simple solution for deliveries in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia: at the time of processing the customer can find out the cost of the service, make a payment using a payment card or internet banking, and choose the most convenient way of delivery and transfer. Eksprespasts offers a wide range of delivery options in Latvia: the item can be delivered by courier to a specific address, to one of more than 60 parcel lockers of Latvijas Pasts, over 60 Circle-K fuel stations or more than 300 full-spectrum post offices throughout Latvia. Customers can dispatch the processed express mail items at the nearest post office or by calling a courier at their place of residence.

In 2020 Eksprespasts, in cooperation with the National Health Service, delivered 6.9 million face masks, 0.8 million respirators and 2,500 safety goggles to 2,500 healthcare institutions throughout Latvia – the sorting and processing of these items is provided by Latvijas Pasts. Cooperation with the National Health Service continues in 2021 too.

Eksprespasts of Latvijas Pasts provides fast and high-quality services of item delivery from hand to hand in Latvia and worldwide. The delivery conditions to the nearest neighbouring countries are particularly favourable; for example, an express mail item in Lithuania can also be delivered to 700 post offices and 90 parcel terminals.

Eksprespasts of Latvijas Pasts was recognised as the best express mail service in the world in 2019 among 198 competing member countries of the Express Mail Service (EMS) Cooperative of the Universal Postal Union. It was awarded the gold level quality assessment and the first place.
