Latvijas Pasts invites everyone to get involved and vote for the favourite new post box prototype

Latvijas Pasts is developing new solutions to replace obsolete post boxes so that new, functionally modern post boxes with an attractive design are available to customers throughout Latvia for the posting of letter-post items for further forwarding. Two post box solution options have now entered the home stretch, and to determine the most appropriate one Latvijas Pasts invites everyone to get involved and vote for their favourite post box on Latvijas Pasts page on Facebook here. The winning prototype will be taken forward for further improvement and development. The voting is scheduled to run until the 13th of April 2021.

In accordance with the obligations imposed on Latvijas Pasts as a universal postal service provider, the company maintains more than 900 post boxes across the country. Ordinary letter-post items – small packets, letters and items in wrapper – paid with postage stamps of the respective face value are placed in them for sending to the addressees, and every day the drivers of Latvijas Pasts collect the items from the post boxes, transporting them for further sorting and delivery.

A large part of these post boxes is technically worn out; moreover, as a result of the numerous reorganisations of Latvijas Pasts over the years, different post boxes can be seen in different parts of Latvia. In order to improve the visual image of Latvijas Pasts, replace obsolete post boxes and provide customers all over Latvia with a new and convenient solution for placing letter-post items, Latvijas Pasts has launched a post box replacement project.

The development of the post box design is nearing completion, with two potential solutions on the line. Latvijas Pasts invites every inhabitant of Latvia to get involved in determining the best prototype of the post box by voting for his or her favourite version on Latvijas Pasts page on Facebook here. The voting has already begun and will run until the 13th of April. The winning prototype will be used as a model for the development of the final version, refining and improving it, including the selection of the most appropriate colours.

Regardless of the prototype of the post box chosen, the new post boxes are expected to ensure easy placing of letter-post items in A4 format too and will incorporate environmentally friendly and modern technologies, such as solar panels.

In recent years Latvijas Pasts has been actively implementing a variety of projects aimed at improving customer service and the environment.
