Holders of the names Inese, Anita and Dace in Riga, Valmiera and Kuldīga receive most greetings in Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign

Most greetings within the Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign 2021 held by Latvijas Pasts will travel to women called Inese, Anita and Dace in Riga, Valmiera, Kuldīga and Tukums. A total of 40,500 postcards have been filled in during the campaign organised by Latvijas Pasts for the tenth time, and both the top ten names of mothers and the most popular Latvian cities and their surroundings, to which most of the greetings will go, traditionally remain very similar to the results of other years’ campaigns.

With the approach of Mother’s Day, Latvijas Pasts, after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, once again invited users of social networks to greet their mothers, grandmothers, girlfriends, aunts or godmothers by sending special design postcards, which were available in a limited amount to anyone interested by logging in on the website www.nosutipastkarti.lv through one’s Facebook or Twitter user profile. The band Carnival Youth prepared a special holiday greeting to all participants of the campaign and mothers, opening the 2021 postcard sending campaign on the Facebook profile of Latvijas Pasts with a musical surprise.

Of a total of 40,500 postcards filled in during the campaign, Ineses will receive the most greetings: 808 postcards are dedicated to them. Meanwhile 743 postcards have been sent to Anitas, 731 to Daces, 719 to Ingas, 706 to Ilzes, 693 to Ivetas, 627 to Sandras, 569 to Līgas and 490 to Intas.

Geographically, apart from the capital Riga and its surroundings, where 2,032 mothers will receive greeting postcards, most greetings will traditionally travel to mums in Valmiera (705), Kuldīga (623), Tukums (601), Cēsis (567), Bauska (490), Liepāja (463), Ventspils (415), Jelgava (402) and Ogre (396).

Most postcard greetings during the previous campaign in 2019 were addressed to the women called Inese, followed by Dace and Inga. The fourth most greeted mums’ name was Iveta. Outside Riga, most postcards in 2019, as this year, were received by mothers in Valmiera, as well as in Tukums and Cēsis.

All postcards accurately filled in during the campaign will be delivered to mothers all over Latvia before the holiday, Mother’s Day, which will be celebrated in Latvia on the 9th of May this year.

The Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign is the first of the social network campaigns established by Latvijas Pasts, and it has been held since 2011. Interest in this campaign is very high, and it is growing every year. The first Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign held by Latvijas Pasts in 2011 saw the participation of 4,867 Twitter users who filled in about 6,500 postcards.
