Latvijas Pasts opens a special item delivery point for customers of Riga post office No. 57

In order to provide faster service of the customers of Riga post office No. 57 and to lessen the burden on the post office at the time when on-site customer service is complicated due to restrictions aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19, from the 1st of June 2021 Latvijas Pasts will deliver items to customers of this post office at a special delivery point at 250 Maskavas Street bldg. 1 near the premises of Riga post office No. 57 at 2 Prūšu Street. The new point envisages prompt and convenient customer service, as it is intended only for the provision of item delivery functions, which usually takes only a few minutes. Considering the large number of items, the customers in this area will simultaneously continue to receive items in the premises of the post office and at the parcel locker located next to it.

At the time when the number of postal items at the busiest post offices has significantly increased, but on-site customer service options have been reduced due to security requirements, Latvijas Pasts is looking for additional solutions for faster customer service and diversification of item delivery options. One of such solutions is the establishment of special item delivery points, which provide only this single function, facilitating prompt customer service and minimising the need for customers to wait their turn outside the post office.

At the new item delivery point at 250 Maskavas Street bldg. 1 the customers of Riga post office No. 57 will be able to receive all types of ordinary and registered items, which will be accepted at Latvijas Pasts from the 1st of June. As the flow of items at the Riga post office No. 57 is very large, far exceeding the current average volumes, the customers in this area will simultaneously continue to receive items in the premises of the post office and at the parcel locker located next to the premises of the post office in the shopping centre Mego at 2 Prūšu Street. This will provide the customers of the post office with a wide range of options for receiving items, simplifying and speeding up the delivery process.

The customers will be notified of the collection of their items at the new item delivery point, at the post office or from the item delivery parcel locker by invitations, which will be sent either as a mobile text message if the recipient’s correct mobile phone number is indicated on the item or as a printed invitation in the customers’ letter-boxes. Therefore, we urge the customers to carefully read the text of the invitation to understand whether the item is available for collection at the new item delivery point, at the post office or from the parcel locker.

The item delivery point of Riga post office No. 57 will be open Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 9 PM and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM. The item delivery point, just like the post office, will also be equipped with the customer flow management system, which regulates the movement of visitors on site and provides the possibility to apply for services remotely via the Latvijas Pasts mobile application.

The remote application option helps to maximise compliance with safety requirements, so that the customer can avoid spending more time than necessary at the delivery point or the post office and show up just in time for receiving the needed service. More information on remote application for services is available here.

Since the Christmas period last year, which traditionally demonstrated an increase in the number of items and during which the number of items delivered in one day reached a record figure of 42,000 units, the number of items at Latvijas Pasts has continued to grow steadily. Currently about 50,000 items on average are delivered at the post offices of Latvijas Pasts on a working day.

Latvijas Pasts will continue to diversify item delivery options and create both item delivery tents and other delivery points depending on the technical and coordination possibilities in specific areas. Special parcel delivery lockers have already been installed in or next to 17 post offices, reducing the need to use the labour of post office operators or the need to spend time in the premises of the post office. In addition, an item delivery tent has been placed near Riga post office No. 21.
