Latvijas Pasts ensures a food delivery service from ELVI to customers’ places of residence across the country

Latvijas Pasts has fully implemented the cooperation project with the retail company ELVI, ensuring a food delivery service to customers’ places of residence throughout Latvia – in the rural areas of Kurzeme, Latgale, Vidzeme and Zemgale from June 2021. For six months now the service offered in some areas has been important for the population in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, facilitating daily chores and providing the opportunity of safe shopping for basic-needs products. Along with full implementation of the food delivery service also for Kurzeme and Vidzeme customers outside the big cities, Latvijas Pasts has also started to provide an opportunity to track the fulfilment of these orders in the digital environment, thus allowing customers to receive their items even more conveniently and plan their time more efficiently.

Fully implementing the cooperation project with the retail company ELVI, Latvijas Pasts launched a full food delivery service also in Kurzeme and Vidzeme in June, thus covering all rural regions of Latvia. Foodstuffs are delivered from ELVI through Latvijas Pasts to customers' places of residence in the areas of Kurzeme, Latgale, Vidzeme and Zemgale outside the largest cities, where a wide range of food retailers and suppliers is represented and customers do not have a need for such a delivery model.

The advantages of food delivery from ELVI through Latvijas Pasts include speed and easy access to every customer; moreover, such a model of cooperation between Latvijas Pasts and ELVI now ensures safe shopping opportunities for all rural residents of Latvia. It is particularly important to provide such an opportunity in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, when people take more care of their health, but it is not always easy to get safely from remote rural areas to a point of sale in a populated area.

Along with the implementation of the project complex, all ELVI orders are assigned a unique number, allowing the customers to track the route of the item in the digital environment on Latvijas Pasts website www.pasts.lv and plan the time for receiving the goods at their places of residence accordingly. When placing an order, the customer will get a text message to the specified mobile phone number with the information on the status and the number of the order and the expected delivery date, indicating also a link where it is possible to track the fulfilment of the order. Such a service can be especially helpful in cases when a sender who lives at another address places the order for his or her family in the countryside, as he or she can easily see the delivery route of the food package and inform its recipients about the delivery date.

The food offer available for ordering is included in a special catalogue delivered to customers’ letter-boxes – previously in Latgale and Zemgale and this week – also in Kurzeme and Vidzeme. The catalogue is also available on the websites of Latvijas Pasts and ELVI.

To order the desired goods from the catalogue, the customer must contact the specialists of the Latvijas Pasts Customer Centre by calling +371 67608444, a dedicated phone line set up for accepting food orders. The goods will be delivered on the next business day if the order is placed by 1 PM, but their delivery will not take place on weekends and holidays.

In December 2020 Latvijas Pasts and ELVI agreed on joint cooperation, initially launching a food delivery service for the residents of rural areas in Latgale, which were later also joined by Zemgale, Kurzeme and Vidzeme.

The food catalogue can be viewed here.
