Latvijas Pasts asks customers in municipalities to check and update addresses – their correct records are available also on www.pasts.lv

Latvijas Pasts calls on users of postal services to change the address records in the areas where, as a result of the administrative and territorial reform, the amalgamation of municipalities has taken place – the correct address records can also be checked in the section Check an address of the Latvijas Pasts website www.pasts.lv. The maximum accurate address record helps to process items faster without interfering with the overall mail exchange processes. In turn, an incorrectly indicated municipality will mean later delivery of items in cases where all other components of the address – street, house/apartment number, city, parish, etc. are specified correctly.

Latvijas Pasts calls on all users of postal services – both individuals and legal entities – to take care of the correct records of their own and their customers’ addresses if the respective municipality has changed as a result of the administrative and territorial reform. The maximum accurate address record helps to process and deliver items faster without delaying the overall mail exchange processes. In turn, an inaccurate address record hinders the provision of the service – delivery to the respective addressee – and hampers the operations of Latvijas Pasts

The correct address record with changes following the administrative and territorial reform can also be checked in the section Check an address of the Latvijas Pasts website www.pasts.lv

It is important for individuals to check and change their address, indicating the new municipality, for example, in user accounts created in online stores, and to remember the correct record when placing new orders on other websites, including, for example, when subscribing to press.

Meanwhile, legal entities that send correspondence further to their clients also need to arrange the database of client addresses, updating the address records in accordance with the new municipality borders.

After the administrative and territorial reform Latvijas Pasts continues to deliver postal items in accordance with the established postal code areas, where no changes have been made. The location of the places of provision of postal services in line with the applicable regulatory framework is linked to the smallest administrative unit: a city or parish, not a municipality.

If all other components, such as the street, apartment and house number, house name and parish, are specified in the address correctly, the item with an incorrectly indicated municipality will reach the addressee later.

Latvijas Pasts reminds you that when filling in the address of the post item, the following information must be indicated: name/surname of the addressee or name of the legal entity, street, house and apartment number or house name, city/parish, municipality and postal code.

If the item is to be delivered to the addressee against a signature, it is important that the addressee’s name and surname are indicated accurately and legibly, as in this case the identity of the recipient will be verified by asking to show an ID
