Item tracking service without delivery against signature is now available to 84 countries

Starting from the 1st of January 2022, Latvijas Pasts is expanding the tracking service for items delivered to the recipient without signature by placing them in the letter-box or delivering them at the post office: instead of the current 37 countries, tracking will now be available for items sent to 84 countries. The item tracking service enables customers to track the movement of their item in the electronic environment. As the items processed this way are not delivered to the recipient against signature, this service is more cost-effective than the delivery of registered/signed for or insured items, where the tracking of items is offered as well, but they are delivered against signature.

Taking into consideration the experience of a number of foreign postal establishments, Latvijas Pasts has also been offering the item tracking service without signature for delivery since 2020. This means that the customer can opt for the additional service Tracking of items when sending ordinary items, such as letters and items with documents or small articles. The item thus processed is assigned a number and a barcode similar to registered/signed for or insured items, which allows the tracking of the item in the electronic environment, but does not provide for the delivery of the item against signature, which still only applies to registered/signed for or insured items.

As of the 1st of January 2022, the number of countries to which the item tracking service is offered is being expanded, increasing from 37 countries to 84 countries. Now, using the tracking service, you can virtually see the route of ordinary items also to the United States, Australia, Georgia, Estonia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, Russia, China and other countries.

As traceable items are delivered without signature for delivery, the cost of this service is lower than for registered/signed for or insured items. Differences in types of items can be seen below:
