To reduce the time spent at post offices, Latvijas Pasts calls on customers to bring their postal items to the post office already wrapped
In order to reduce the stay at post offices and shorten the service time, Latvijas Pasts invites customers to bring small packets and parcels, which are to be sent both domestically and abroad, to the post offices already closed and wrapped. The customer is responsible for the contents of the postal item; therefore, before packing the item, it is important to make sure that the articles placed in it may be sent by air and that they are allowed to be mailed to the specific country: this information is available in the section Prohibited Postal Items of the Latvijas Pasts website https://pasts.lv/.

To provide faster and more efficient service as well as to reduce the overall time spent at the post office, Latvijas Pasts invites customers to bring all types of postal items to the post office already closed and wrapped. As the customer is responsible for the contents of the postal item, it is essential to make sure before wrapping that the items concerned are allowed to be shipped by air and that they may be sent to the specific country of destination.

Therefore, before preparing and bringing the item to the post office for mailing, Latvijas Pasts calls on customers to:
  • make sure that the items to be sent to the specific country are not on the list of prohibited postal items: https://pasts.lv/en/For_Individuals/Useful_Information/Prohibited_Postal_Items/;
  • carefully choose the packaging of the postal item so that it is durable and corresponds to the postal item;
  • seal the box or other type of packaging of the postal item so that the postal item is not damaged during transportation and the articles placed in it cannot fall out of it;
  • indicate the correct name and address of the recipient, and preferably also the mobile phone number and other necessary contact information;
  • bring the postal item prepared in this manner to the post office!

Latvijas Pasts points out that wrapping of an item by a post office employee is a paid service and it should be taken into account that when an open postal item to be sent is brought to the post office, the sender may be charged €1.05.
