Latvijas Pasts will provide free opening of accounts in the Postal Settlement System for Ukrainian refugees

Latvijas Pasts has taken a decision to open accounts in the Postal Settlement System for Ukrainian refugees free of charge, and an identity document will be needed to open the account. Since the 3rd of March 2022, Latvijas Pasts has not been accepting money orders and Western Union money transfers to Russia and Belarus, and it has not been paying out money orders and transfers received from those countries. At the same time, both postal items and money orders to Ukraine are accepted – Western Union money transfers to and from Ukraine are exempt from the service fee.

Latvijas Pasts is a payment institution licenced by the Financial and Capital Market Commission, and a payment account with the Postal Settlement System is a convenient way to receive any type of payments, make transfers to the accounts of legal entities or private individuals at the post offices, as well as credit institutions in Latvia and abroad, deposit and withdraw cash from one’s account and pay bills at any post office.
