Holders of the names Inese, Dace and Anita in Riga, Liepāja and Valmiera receive most postcards with greetings on Mother’s Day

Most greetings within the Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign 2022 held by Latvijas Pasts will travel to women called Inese, Dace and Anita in Riga. Apart from the capital Riga, the biggest number of greetings is addressed to mothers in Liepāja, Valmiera and Cēsis. This year, the top three names of mothers are almost the same as in the campaign a year ago, with the only exception that Anitas and Daces have swapped places to rank second and third. A total of 40,000 postcards have been filled in during the traditional Mother's Day campaign of Latvijas Pasts, and 90% of all postcards have been sent from mobile devices this year.

The Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign organised by Latvijas Pasts since 2011 was highly welcomed this year too, with 40,000 holiday greetings for mothers, grandmothers, girlfriends, aunts or godmothers throughout Latvia filled in. Everyone interested in sending a greeting card had the opportunity to prepare a special design holiday postcard on the website www.nosutipastkarti.lv, logging in through one’s Facebook or Twitter user profile and correctly indicating the required information. Latvijas Pasts will deliver the holiday postcards to the recipients in Latvia until Mother's Day, which is celebrated in Latvia on the 8th of May this year.

Of all the postcards filled in during the campaign, Ineses will receive the most greetings: 782 postcards are dedicated to them. Meanwhile 705 postcards have been sent to Daces, 689 to Anitas, 670 to Ingas, 662 to Ivetas, 660 to Ilzes, 605 to Sandras, 534 to Līgas, 529 to Aijas and 479 to Sarmītes.

The top three names of mothers who will receive the most postcards in the 2022 campaign are almost analogous to the results of the 2021 campaign, with the only exception that Anitas and Daces have swapped places.

Geographically, apart from the capital Riga and its surroundings, where Latvijas Pasts will deliver 3,967 greeting postcards, most greetings this year will travel to Liepāja (1,663), Valmiera (1,145), Cēsis (1,091), Tukums (1,084), Kuldīga (873), Ventspils (710), Bauska (702), Saldus (644) and Talsi, where 601 cards are addressed to mums.

For reference, during the 2021 campaign most postcards outside Riga were received by mums in Valmiera, Kuldīga and Tukums.

It is interesting to note that during the Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign in 2022, a record number of users – 90% – prepared the postcards for sending on their mobile devices. 57% of the campaign participants sent three postcards, 29% – two postcards and 14% of the participants – one postcard.

The Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign is the first of the social network campaigns established by Latvijas Pasts, and it has been held since 2011. Interest in this campaign is very high, and it is growing every year. The first Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign held by Latvijas Pasts in 2011 saw the participation of 4,867 Twitter users who filled in about 6,500 postcards.
