First new outdoor parcel lockers of Latvijas Pasts – exclusively at the stores of the retail company Lidl

Starting from August 2022, the first new outdoor parcel lockers of Latvijas Pasts are being installed at the retail stores of Lidl Latvija, the company’s strategic cooperation partner: the first parcel locker was opened on the 29th of August at 2a Ilūkstes Street, Pļavnieki, Riga. Overall, Latvijas Pasts plans to place at least 120 modern outdoor parcel lockers this year and next year, ensuring efficient sending and receiving of parcels at a convenient place and time for customers. During the first stage of the project, until the 2nd of September, six modern Latvijas Pasts outdoor parcel lockers will be exclusively installed at Lidl Latvija stores, and they will be conveniently available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Through the development of various item delivery solutions according to customers’ modern consumption habits, in August Latvijas Pasts starts an ambitious process of installing outdoor parcel lockers and plans to purchase at least 120 new parcel lockers. The parcel locker network created by Latvijas Pasts is unique in Latvia, as it ensures the availability of parcel lockers both indoors and – following the expansion of the network – also outdoors.

The first new parcel lockers will be placed near the stores of Lidl, a strategic cooperation partner of Latvijas Pasts; a total of six parcel lockers will be located exclusively at Lidl stores. To mark the start of this cooperation project, the first parcel locker was opened on the 29th of August at 2a Ilūkstes Street, Pļavnieki, Riga. The next five parcel lockers will be located near Lidl stores in Riga: 31 Stirnu Street, Purvciems; 254 Brivibas gatve, Teika; and 8a Anniņmuižas Street, Zolitūde, as well as in the regions outside the capital: 125 Atbrīvošanas aleja, Rēzekne, and 50a Rīgas Street, Jelgava.

Latvijas Pasts is launching an ambitious expansion and modernisation project, supplementing the existing network of more than 80 parcel lockers with new and modern outdoor parcel lockers. We are pleased that our cooperation partner during the first stage of the implementation of this project is the food retail company Lidl Latvija. From now on, it is the parcel lockers of Latvijas Pasts that are going to be located at its stores, creating a combination of high quality and service,” Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, points out.

The large-scale expansion of the parcel locker network of Latvijas Pasts will substantially improve customers’ options for receiving and sending items. Latvijas Pasts currently has more than 80 parcel lockers, which are planned to be supplemented with at least 120 new outdoor parcel lockers this year and next year. Latvijas Pasts is the only company in Latvia that offers both indoor parcel locker services, which are very important for parcels that require a certain temperature regime, without exposing them to fluctuations in the surrounding environment, and outdoor parcel lockers, ensuring the collection of items at any time of the day.

The overall item delivery and sending network of Latvijas Pasts is made of more than 600 post offices, postmen and couriers, a network of Circle-K fuel stations and parcel lockers throughout Latvia.
