The solution developed by Latvijas Pasts makes it possible to reduce the commission fee for paying utility and other service bills

The new solution for scanning barcodes on bills developed by Latvijas Pasts significantly facilitates both the preparation of bills for utility and other service providers, as well as the use of Latvijas Pasts' resources for processing these bills, resulting in reduced administrative costs and, consequently, lower service fees for residents who pay for utilities or other services at post offices. Service providers must enter into a relevant contract with Latvijas Pasts for embedding barcodes into the processing systems of Latvijas Pasts.

Along with the existing options for making payments for services at post offices, Latvijas Pasts has developed a new solution for scanning barcodes on bills, significantly facilitating both the preparation of bills for the service provider – the issuer of the invoice, such as a utility provider, etc., and the administrative costs for Latvijas Pasts. With this solution, the service fee for paying utility and other service bills at post offices can be substantially reduced.

“Bills without a barcode must be processed manually, entering the necessary information, such as the recipient, the payer, the bank details, etc. in the system by hand, which requires labour and time resources. In turn, when the service provider concludes a contract with Latvijas Pasts, barcodes compatible with Latvijas Pasts' systems are embedded in the bills, enabling easy and quick processing of the bill at the post office by simply scanning it, without additional work. As a result, we can significantly reduce the service fee for customers who pay their bills at post offices,” Mārtiņš Liepiņš, Director of the Commercial Management Department at Latvijas Pasts, explains.

Latvijas Pasts invites legal entities – service providers – to enter into contracts with Latvijas Pasts, enabling joint provision of a more convenient and cheaper service to customers.

Latvijas Pasts is a licenced payment institution that offers a full range of payment services, account servicing, cashless transfers and other services throughout the country.
