Latvijas Pasts asks customers to update their contact information so that they can be informed about the receipt of items by mobile text messages
28.06.2023
In order to inform recipients to the maximum extent about the receipt of postal items by mobile text messages, minimising the delivery of printed notifications, Latvijas Pasts asks customers to update their contact information in a secure and fast way. Customers who previously applied to receive e-notifications from Latvijas Pasts and provided their mobile phone number for communication purposes will receive text messages with a unique, individualised link for updating the data included in each of them. Text messages will be sent from an account with an authorised Latvijas Pasts username Pasts.lv. If the addressees have doubts about the authenticity of text messages, they are welcome to check the authenticity by contacting the Latvijas Pasts Customer Centre on +371 67008001 or +371 27008001.
It is essential for Latvijas Pasts that the information about the received item is delivered accurately, quickly and conveniently to the customers, – and the most effective way to achieve this is through mobile text messages. Unfortunately, the contact information previously provided by customers tends to be inaccurate, outdated and not corresponding to the current situation. Therefore, printed notifications have to be delivered to the customer’s letter-box, which is neither convenient nor sustainable and wastes the resources of both the customer and Latvijas Pasts.
Therefore, starting from the 26th of June 2023, Latvijas Pasts asks customers to update their contact information in a secure and fast way. During the mentioned period, Latvijas Pasts will send mobile text messages to customers who have previously applied to receive e-notifications and indicated their mobile phone number for communication purposes. Text messages will be sent from the Latvijas Pasts account with the authorised username Pasts.lv.
Each text message will contain a unique and personalised link leading to the website where the contact information can be updated. Recipients of the text message will be asked to confirm their identity using the Smart-ID qualified electronic signature. When updating the information, it is also essential to indicate the actual address for which the items are received, so that in cases where the mobile phone number is missing from the item data, the relevant recipient may be identified by name/surname, the specified delivery address and the mobile phone number included in the database.
Smart-ID is a free mobile app that allows you to sign documents easily and conveniently. To use Smart-ID, you need a smartphone, mobile Internet or wireless Internet connection and an account level that corresponds to the Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).
If a customer does not have a Smart-ID qualified electronic signature, he or she can renew his or her contact information at the nearest post office by presenting his or her passport or ID card. Customers can also apply for e-notifications at post offices.
In turn, those customers who have not yet applied to receive e-notifications, but who have a Smart-ID qualified electronic signature, can also apply electronically to receive e-notifications on the website of
Latvijas Pasts at
www.manspasts.lv/lv/e-aicinajumi
In case of doubts about the authenticity of the received text messages, you are welcome to check them by contacting the
Latvijas Pasts Customer Centre by calling +371 27008001 or +371 67008001, by writing to
info@pasts.lv or via the social network profiles.
The customers who need to make adjustments to their contact information, such as changing their address or phone number, can do so:
or
- at any post office, presenting their passport or ID card.
The main advantages for customers when receiving e-notifications in the form of mobile text messages are as follows:
- a text message is delivered faster than a printed notification;
- upon receiving a text message, it is possible to schedule a visit to the post office on the daily route without checking the letter-box;
- upon receiving a text message, the item can be conveniently redirected to the desired pick-up location, for example, to a parcel locker or Circle K gas station, or home delivery by courier can be ordered;
- the notification is received by the specific addressee and not by any other member of the household;
- the notification does not get lost if the letter-box is not lockable or otherwise damaged, or if other materials are taken out from the letter-box;
- natural, time and human labour resources are saved.
The obtained data will be used exclusively for the preparation of e-notifications. The processing of customers’ personal data will be carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations and the internal policy, guidelines and procedures of Latvijas Pasts.
