Latvijas Pasts has launched procurement for the purchase of 200 new parcel lockers

As the popularity of parcel lockers continues to grow among the population and the number of items sent via parcel lockers increases, Latvijas Pasts has launched procurement for the purchase of 200 new parcel lockers. For Latvijas Pasts, this is an important step towards the expansion of the availability of the service throughout the country. The total Latvijas Pasts network currently consists of 195 outdoor and indoor parcel lockers, and by the end of September the number of parcel lockers available in the network will reach 220.

Latvijas Pasts has launched procurement for a substantial expansion of the parcel locker network with a view to purchasing 200 parcel lockers, resulting in 420 machines in the Latvijas Pasts parcel locker network. Currently, parcel lockers are already installed in strategically advantageous locations for customers, including at post offices, at Circle K gas stations, near the stores of the retailer LIDL, etc., but the envisaged expansion will make it possible to ensure the availability of the parcel locker service to an even wider range of customers in the regions as well, by planning their placement based on demand.

According to Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, “The announced procurement is only a logical step closer to building a competitive, technologically advanced and modern company that listens to the changing wishes and needs of its customers. Our customers’ demand for parcel lockers has grown rapidly, so it is important to step up a gear in introducing an ever-wider parcel locker network.”

The amount of the planned procurement reaches 6 million euro, and it is expected to conclude on the 28th of August. Information on the procurement launched by Latvijas Pasts for the expansion of the parcel locker network is available in the EIS procurement system.

Latvijas Pasts is the only company in Latvia that offers both indoor parcel locker services, which are very important for parcels that require a certain temperature regime, without exposing them to fluctuations in the surrounding environment, and outdoor parcel lockers, ensuring the collection and sending of items at any time of the day. Among the parcel lockers of Latvijas Pasts there is also a parcel tower in Pļavnieki, Riga, which is the only one of its kind in Latvia. It is an efficient and modern parcel delivery machine with the automated item delivery function, which has space to store up to 500 items at a time.

Latvijas Pasts acquired the parcel locker network in August 2019, significantly expanding the item delivery and sending options, which are ensured by a wide network of service provision locations, postmen and courier services, as well as a network of Circle K gas stations and over 195 parcel lockers throughout Latvia.
