The euro postcard campaign at www.eiropasts.lv commenced on December 2, 2013, and will continue until all prepared postcards are filled and ready for sending - the print run of each postcard design is 5,000. By selecting one of the offered postcard designs and accurately entering the recipient’s address, the postcard, which will be delivered by Latvijas Pasts free of charge, will also automatically indicate the post office nearest to the recipient’s location where it will be possible to exchange lats for euros from January 2 to March 31, 2014.

The postcards will be delivered to recipients until the Christmas holidays. The euro postcard designs can be viewed here.

Latvijas Pasts as the company with the most extensive service provision network in Latvia - with a total of 618 post offices throughout the country - plays a significant role in the euro adoption process in the rural regions. Pursuant to Cabinet Regulation On the postal service provision locations for exchange of lats, 302 Latvijas Posts offices in locations where neither bank services nor ATMs are available will allow exchanging lats for euros free of charge from January 2 to March 31, 2014.

The list of the post offices, as well as other important information about Latvijas Pasts services during the euro adoption period, is available at the special Latvijas Pasts website www.eiropasts.lv, from which it is also possible to send the euro postcards for the convenience of those residents who are not regular Internet users.

Latvijas Pasts regularly organizes postcard campaigns online, allowing anyone to participate by using their social network accounts. In spring 2013, during the Mother’s Day postcard campaign, nearly 14,500 Twitter and Facebook users in only a few hours filled 20,000 postcards to be delivered to their moms, grandmothers or godmothers. In this way, Latvijas Pasts combines the traditional postal service that has been used for centuries - the sending of postcards - with the possibilities provided by modern technologies.
