Latvia's participation in World Expo 2010 marked with stamp

On April 23, 2010, VAS Latvijas Pasts will hold the first day event of the newly-issued stamp Shanghai World Expo in the post office Sakta.

The stamp shows a man flying in a vertical wind tunnel, drawing attention to Latvia's technological achievements in the field of skydiving on both a national and international level.

Latvia will be represented in the Shanghai World Expo 2010, which will take place from May 1 to October 31, by the team of SIA Aerodium.

Aerodiumchair of the board Ivars Beitāns: "I was pleasantly surprised upon finding out about the theme of the new stamp! We are honored to represent Latvia and prove with our work that we are a very talented and hardworking nation that can create excellent things that are appreciated in the world."

The print run of the stamp Shanghai World Expo consists of 150,000 stamps; its face value is LVL 1.50, and it is intended for international postal items.

The first day ceremony with a special cancellation will take place in the post office Sakta in Riga, 32 Brīvības Boulevard, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
