Latvijas Pastsissues addition to Wealth of Latvian Forests series

On Friday, September 10, the first day event of the stamps Wild Raspberry and Birch Bolete will be held in the post office Sakta. The newly issued stamps are the first bearing new security marks.

Two new stamps have been issued in the series Wealth of Latvian Forests - Wild Raspberry and Birch Bolete. Latvijas Pasts has also issued a special cancellation and first-day envelopes displaying gifts of the forest.

The author of design of the Wild Raspberry and Birch Bolete stamps is artist Edgars Folks. Their face value is LVL 0.55 and 1.20, respectively. The print run of Wild Raspberry is 150,000 stamps, Birch Bolete - 100,000 stamps.

There are special security marks in the new stamps, which increase protection against counterfeiting. All stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts will contain these marks from now on, in order to ensure that their authenticity can be verified. The security marks can be seen only under UV light.

The first day ceremony will take place in the post office Sakta in Riga, 32 Brīvības Boulevard, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Previous stamps issued by Latvijas Pastsin the series Wealth of Latvian Forests include the Cowberry and Chanterelle (2007), Bilberry and Red-capped Scaber Stalk (2008), as well as Wild Strawberry and Russula (2009).

The next new stamp issue is planned for October 15.
