Latvijas Pasts launched the stamp series Republic of Latvia - 100 in 2009, each year releasing three new stamps dedicated to events or personalities significant to Latvia. Stamps released so far include ones dedicated to the origins of the Republic of Latvia, the national symbols of Latvia, as well as the history of Latvian seafaring and music. New additions to the series will be made each year until 2018, the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Latvia.

The next new philatelic release, which is scheduled for November 22, will be the last one released by Latvijas Pasts in 2013. It will also be the final stamp denominated in both lats and euros. Starting from 2014, with Latvia's accession to the eurozone, all stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts will have the denomination displayed only in euros. Until 2013, Latvijas Pasts released stamps denominated in lats - it will still be possible to use them throughout 2014. Starting from 2013, Latvijas Pasts began releasing stamps with dual denominations - both in lats and euros; the circulation and usage of these stamps has no time limit.
