Latvijas Pasts has released a commemorative envelope to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Latvian actor Kārlis Sebris. Aspecial cancellation event and presentation dedicated to the envelope will be held on February 18, the actor's birthday. The cancellation will take place from 9 AM to 6 PM at the Latvian National Theatre, where the actor worked from 1938. The presentation of the envelope, which will gather together actors of the Latvian National Theatre, former colleagues of K.Sebris, is scheduled to start at 2 PM.

The print run of the new envelope is 1,000, and it depicts a portrait of K.Sebris. The envelope has been designed by artist Ģirts Grīva.

K.Sebris was one of the most beloved and talented Latvian actors. Alongside his work in the Latvian National Theatre, he appeared in quite a number of films released by the once thriving Rīgas kino studija (Riga Film Studio) and other studios of the former Soviet Union. Among them are the films enjoying great popularity in Latvia, such as Purva bridējs (The Swamp Wader), Mērnieku laiki (The Times of the Land-Surveyors), Pie bagātās kundzes (Serving a Rich Mistress), Nāves ēnā (In the Shadow of Death), Vella kalpi (The Devil's Servants), Vella kalpi Vella dzirnavās (The Devil's Servants in the Devil's Mill) and many others. The actor was awarded the Order of the Three Stars. He passed away on January 12, 2009.

Some years ago, Latvijas Pasts released a stamp dedicated to yet another prominent Latvian figure in the world of acting - Ēvalds Valters. The stamp came out on April 2, 1994, the actor's centennial birthday.
