Latvijas Pasts is holding vote for most beautiful stamp 2013 in social networks

To find out the public opinion on the most beautiful stamp released in Latvia in 2013, Latvijas Pasts, for the third consecutive year, holds a contest in social networks, inviting any user of Twitter, Facebook and Draugiem to vote for the stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts. Voting for the most beautiful stamp 2013 is available on the website www.gadapastmarka.lv from today, March 10, 2014 to March 28, 2014. Each voter will be entered in a draw for a chance to win an iPad Mini.

The most beautiful stamp can be chosen from the 26 stamps issued in 2013. The total print run of the stamps released over the last year is five million.

The pictures and descriptions of the stamps can be found on the website www.gadapastmarka.lv. Users of the social networks Twitter, Facebook and Draugiem can cast their vote for the most beautiful stamp 2013 by logging in their accounts. Only one vote may be cast for one stamp from a particular account during every 24 hours. Each voter will be automatically entered in a draw for a chance to win an iPad Mini. The most beautiful stamp 2013 and the winner of the draw will be announced on March 31.

Every year, Latvijas Pasts releases more than 20 new stamps dedicated to major events taking place in Latvia and notable personalities of the country's history, culture and sports. The stamp issue schedule is approved by the Stamp Issue Committee, but starting from 2011 Latvijas Pasts invites anyone to become a co-designer of a stamp by participating in a special contest for creating a new stamp.

In 2014,Latvijas Pasts plans to issue at least 36 new stamps with a print run of six million, which is more, in terms of both the number of stamps to be released and copies to be printed, when compared to 2013.

The public vote for the most beautiful stamp is held for the third consecutive year. The winner of the 2012 contest became a stamp in the Europa stamp series Visit… which received 646 votes. In 2011, the title of the most beautiful stamp was granted to the stamp block dedicated to the Struve Geodetic Arc. The winning stamps of both 2011 and 2011 were designed by artist Arta Ozola-Jaunarāja.
