Latvijas Pasts opens new post office with modern concept; 10 more offices to be upgraded this year

Latvijas Pasts has opened the first post office with a modern functional and design concept, which will provide more convenient services for customers and improved working conditions for employees. The new office is located in the premises of the newly unveiled center of the State Revenue Service in Riga, and it is the 43th post office in the capital and the 621th place of supply of postal services on a nationwide scale. This year, Latvijas Pasts is going to upgrade a total of 10 post offices to the new concept - both in Riga and outside. The opening of the modernized office in Rezekne is scheduled for July.

The modern post office model developed by Latvijas Pasts is based on a number of principles ensuring customer convenience, such as a modern environment, transparent display of services and products, customer flow management system in compliance with the present-day service requirements and availability of commodities which are in demand at the particular post office. This means that the offices will offer different goods according to the customers' habit survey: the main focus in the post offices in Riga and other major Latvian cities is and will be on provision of postal services, while the supply in rural areas will be formed with regard to the demand of the people living in the particular area, which can also be affected by seasonal trends.

The new Riga post office, which has been assigned zip code LV-1028 and which is located at 1 Talejas Street, is not only a newly opened office, but also the first office established in accordance with the modern principles of customer service and display of the goods offered. The functional and design solution lays special emphasis on products that are directly related to the provision of postal services, such as stamps, containers for parcels, mailboxes, etc. and various commodities available at the post office, which are not directly linked to the postal services.

The customer flow at the new office is regulated by the modern waiting line management system Qminder which allows the customers to take their ticket remotely by using a mobile application on their smartphone or tablet and get notified about the approximate waiting time, the queue progress and their turn when there are two people before them in the queue. Currently, this customer flow management system is used in two offices of Latvijas Pasts: the new office at the State Revenue Service center in Riga and Valmiera post office No. 4. By the end of 2014, it is planned to implement this system at another six offices, and over time it will be introduced at the largest post offices across the country.

The newly opened post office at Talejas Street is equipped with a ramp that provides easy access for people with disabilities and parents with prams.

This year, Latvijas Pasts is going to upgrade a total of 10 post offices to the new concept of provision of postal services - both in Riga and outside the capital. The opening of the modernized office in Rezekne is scheduled for July.
