Latvijas Pasts releases new stamps in special Christmas series for 21st consecutive year

This is the 21st consecutive year that Latvijas Pasts has released stamps and an envelope in the special Christmas series. The first-day cancellation event will take place in the post office Sakta, 32 Brīvības Boulevard, Riga, on November 27, 2014, from 7:30 AM to 7 PM. Anyone who buys any of these stamps at the Greeting House of Latvijas Pasts in Dome Square from November 29 will have a chance to receive a free greeting postcard.

The most recent stamps in the Christmas series were designed by the artist and rector of the Art Academy of Latvia Aleksejs Naumovs. They feature peaceful Christmas sceneries. Each stamp has a different denomination and a different print run: the stamp with a denomination of EUR 0.50 is suitable for mailing a regular Class B letter within Latvia and its print run is 1 million copies. The stamp with a denomination of EUR 0.85 can be used for mailing a regular Class A letter to any country outside the European Union and its print run is 200,000. The print run of the special Christmas envelope is 2,000 copies.

Latvijas Pasts launched the Christmas series of stamps in 1994, and so far more than 50 Christmas stamps have been released in the series. This year, anyone who buys any of the stamps from the new Christmas series at the Greeting House of Latvijas Pasts in Dome Square from November 29 will have a chance to receive one of the three greeting postcards for free. The Greeting House in Dome Square will be open until December 31.

The new stamps and the special envelope in the Christmas series can be viewed here.

All stamps in the Christmas series released by Latvijas Pasts from 1994 to 2014 are available for viewing here.

The next new philatelic release is scheduled for December 4.
