Latvijas Pasts stamps won award in competition held by Association of European Public Postal Operators

Best Europa stamp 2015 prizes were awarded in Brussels Town Hall following the competition for the most beautiful Europa stamps released over the past year held by PostEurop – Association of European Public Postal Operators. This year’s theme of the stamps was Old Toys

Latvijas Pasts with its stamps Bears and Dolls won the third place in the stamp competition organized by PostEurop. The first prize went to Russian Post and the runner-up was the Swedish postal service.

On April 10, 2015, Latvijas Pasts released two new stamps and a cover in the joint stamp series of the European countries dedicated to old toys. The cover and the stamps Europa – Old Toys in the European series were designed by Arta Ozola Jaunarāja. The denominations of the stamps are € 0.78 with a print run of 120,000 copies and € 1.71 with a print run of 100,000 copies. The stamps were printed at Baltic Banknote printing house in Latvia.

The originator of Europa postage stamps is PostEurop – Association of European Public Postal Operators, and stamps with a single logo and a common theme in this series have been issued throughout Europe since 1994. Latvijas Pasts traditionally releases two stamps in this series every year. In previous years, the themes of Europa postage stamps were related to literature, natural attractions, travel, postal transport, etc.
