A single-design stamp and stamp block released in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Baltic Assembly

Latvijas Pasts, simultaneously with the postal establishments of Lithuania and Estonia, has released a stamp and a stamp block with a single design for all the Baltic States to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Baltic Assembly, the inter-parliamentary institution of the three neighbouring countries. The official presentation of the new stamp and the related special block as well as the first day cancellation is scheduled to take place in the Saeima (the Parliament) on the 8th of November 2016.

The print run of the new stamp is 100,000 copies and its face value is € 0.50, which corresponds to the cost of sending a regular Class B letter within Latvia. In turn, the print run of the stamp block is 20,000 copies and its face value is € 1.39, which is suitable for sending a registered Class B letter within Latvia. The release of the stamp and the block is accompanied by the issue of a special cover with a print run of 2,500 copies. The new philatelic releases have been designed by the Estonian artist Indrek Ilves.

Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece and President of the Baltic Assembly and Chair of the BA Latvian delegation Jānis Vucāns together with the representatives of the management of Latvijas Pasts will open the presentation of the stamp and the stamp block in honour of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Baltic Assembly at the Grand Vestibule of the Saeima, 11 Jēkaba Street, Riga (entrance from Klostera Street) at 9 AM on the 8th of November. The first day cancellation of the stamp will be held at the same place until 3 PM.

The stamp dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Assembly depicts the three flags of the member states and the identification mark of the Baltic Assembly, while the stamp block is complemented by a stylised map of the Baltic States.
