Latvijas Pasts releases two stamps in the series Christmas – everyone is invited to send season’s greetings in good time

On the eve of the first Advent Latvijas Pasts releases two new stamps in the series Christmas so that everyone can have a chance to send their warm greetings for the year-end holidays, Christmas and New Year, in good time. The first day cancellation of the stamps is scheduled to take place in Riga post office No. 50 located in the shopping centre Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums, on Friday, the 25th of November, from 8 AM to 7 PM.

Latvijas Pasts has issued the most festive and popular postage stamps of the year, which have received special affection of the customers when paying for postal items to countries far and near during the period of Christmas and New Year. The newly released stamps in the series Christmas have been designed by the well-known Latvian artist and illustrator of children’s books Anita Paegle.

Each of the stamps has a different face value and print run. The stamp with a face value of €0.50 is suitable for sending a regular Class B letter within Latvia and its print run is one million copies. In turn, the stamp with a face value of €0.78 corresponds to the cost of sending a regular Class A letter within the European Union or a regular Class B letter to any country of the world outside the European Union, and its print run is 150,000 copies. The print run of the special cover is 1,500 copies.

Latvijas Pasts launched the Christmas series of stamps in 1994, and so far approximately 60 Christmas stamps have been released. The stamps in the series Christmas that have been issued to date are available for viewing here
