Special cancellation and presentation of the cover dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Youth Guard to be held in the Latvian War Museum

Latvijas Pasts has released a cover dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Youth Guard, a voluntary military-oriented movement of school youth. The special cancellation of the new cover will take place in the Latvian War Museum on the 25th of January 2017 all day long, from 10 AM to 5 PM. The presentation of the cover, which is to be held in the same place at 1 PM, will see the participation of Minister of Defence Raimonds Bergmanis, Chief of Defence of the National Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Raimonds Graube and Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts Mārcis Vilcāns.

The cover has been released in support of the goals set by the Youth Guard: a socially integrated and cohesive civil and patriotic society, the youth enlightened regarding the issues of national defence and meaningfully spent leisure time. The design of the new cover incorporates the logo of the Youth Guard with the slogan Let us grow for Latvia!, and its print run is 2,000 copies. The philatelic release has been designed by the artist Ģirts Grīva.

The Youth Guard is a voluntary military-oriented movement of school youth whose training model programme is implemented in 300 places of study in all of the 110 Latvian municipalities and nine cities. Approximately 8,000 children and young people are involved in the Youth Guard movement in 2017.

The new cover Youth Guard – 25 can be viewed here.

The next philatelic release is scheduled to be released on the 10th of February 2017.
