 Latvijas Pasts releases a new stamp Freesia in the series Flowers

As spring is approaching, Latvijas Pasts has released a new stamp Freesia to supplement the eye-catching series Flowers. The first day cancellation of the stamp is scheduled to take place in the Post Centre Sakta, 32 Brīvības Boulevard, Riga from 8 AM to 7 PM on the 3rd of March 2017.

The face value of the new stamp in the series Flowers is € 0.64, corresponding to the cost of sending a regular postcard within the European Union. The print run of the stamp is 200,000 copies, and the release of the stamp is accompanied by the issue of a special cover with a print run of 1,500 copies. The new philatelic releases have been designed by the artist Lilija Dinere.

Freesia is one of the most beautiful and the most fragrant flowering plants. Its flowers come in white, yellow, orange, red, purple and other colours, and this plant originates from South Africa.

Freesia is the eighth stamp in the series Flowers, which was launched in 2010 by Latvijas Pasts. The first release in the series Flowers was Peony, which was followed by Rose, Lily, Iris, Tulip, Sunflower and Water Lily.
