For more effective mail delivery Latvijas Pasts commences the use of 41 new vans

By upgrading its fleet to ensure a more efficient delivery of the Universal postal service and Express mail consignments, Latvijas Pasts has started using 41 new cargo vans. The new vans are more ergonomic, with modern visual design, and they are replacing the vehicles that have been utilized for consignment delivery since 2007. The replacement of another 64 vans that have been utilized long-term to new models is planned thus improving both the speed of deliveries and the working conditions of the drivers.

One of the goals proposed by the management of Latvijas Pasts is the improvement of the speed of the service, however, a significant factor in achieving this is the safety and operational comfort of the vehicles used in consignment delivery. From all postal businesses operating in the country, Latvijas Pasts is the only one that ensures the exchange of mail in the entire national territory every weekday. Therefore, an acquisition of 105 new cargo vans in total is planned, replacing the vehicles of prolonged use, and by purchasing 41 vans the first stage of this upgrade has been realized.

"The new cargo vans have been chosen according to the function execution needs of Latvijas Pasts from the point of view of both the freight and volumetric capacity. These vans are more powerful yet more economic and environmentally-friendly, and their maneuverability and performance is more effective. Therefore, the delivery of postal consignments will be not only faster and more secure, but also more comfortable for our drivers, which is important in the operations of Latvijas Pasts, where the mail without exception is delivered every weekday to both large cities and countryside farmsteads," stresses Marcis Vilcans (Mārcis Vilcāns), the Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts.

The new cargo vans have different - easily noticeable and modern - visual design, which can be viewed here.

The vans had been chosen via a public procurement procedure, which foresees a four-year rental utilizing an operating leasing service. The rental costs for the entire term represent 0.6 million euro.

In 2017, Latvijas Pasts is actively implementing the improvements of service speed and quality, customer service, employee motivation, as well as renovates the equipment and the infrastructure needed for work.

The total fleet of Latvijas Pasts currently consists of 260 vehicles.
