Latvijas Pasts has released a special cover in honour of the 125th anniversary of Latvian composer and pianist Oskars Stroks. The first day cancellation of the cover is scheduled to take place precisely on the birthday of the composer, the 6th of January from 8 AM to 7 PM, in Riga post office No. 50 in the shopping mall Origo, at Stacijas laukums 2, Riga.

The new cover Oskars Stroks 125 has a print run of 1000 copies, and has been designed by the artist Girts Griva (Ģirts Grīva). The envelope depicts a portrait of O.Stroks and the score fragments of his composition Dark Eyes.

Oskars Storks (1893–1975) was a Latvian composer and pianist. Throughout his life he has composed more than 300 compositions of various styles - reveries, polonaises, waltzes, romances, foxtrot compositions, as well as songs. However, particularly compositions in the rhythm of tango brought especial popularity to O.Stroks, hence the prominent musician is dubbed the king of tango. His most popular pieces are: Dark Eyes, Lunar Rhapsody, My Last Tango, Blue Eyes, Tell Me Why?, Sleep My Poor Heart.

The composer has performed in concerts in France, Germany, China, Japan, Singapore, Jamaica. The compositions of O.Stroks have been released by such record companies as Columbia, Electrocord, Syrena, Electro, HMV and others.
