In the spirit of Latvia’s centenary Latvijas Pasts will take part in Europe’s largest stamp fair for the 17th time

Latvijas Pasts together with the Estonian and Lithuanian postal companies will take part in Europe’s largest stamp fair Briefmarken Messe Essen in Essen, Germany from the 3rd to the 5th of May, with a single stand in the spirit of the centenaries of the three Baltic states, emphasising in particular the first irregularly shaped stamp designed as an outline of the map of Latvia, which is dedicated to Latvia’s centenary. Latvijas Pasts will participate in this stamp fair held in Germany for the 17th time.

The year 2018 is highly significant for Latvijas Pasts at the Essen International Stamp Fair, as this year marks not only the centenary of the Latvian State but also the hundredth anniversary of the Latvian postal company. Therefore, along with traditional philatelic releases, which commonly draw the interest of collectors of stamps from different countries, Latvijas Pasts will place a particular emphasis during the fair on the unique irregularly shaped stamp release designed as an outline of the map of Latvia and dedicated to the centenary of the Latvian State.

The Essen International Stamp Fair is the oldest event of its kind in Germany and in the entire world: it has been bringing together collectors since 1976, while Latvijas Pasts has been taking part in the fair since 1994.

Since the beginning of the participation in the Essen Fair, the philatelic releases by Latvijas Pasts have won recognition from stamp collectors as they comply with the best practices of philately and the thematic interests of collectors. The stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts in the series Latvian Folk Costumes, Flora and Fauna, as well as philatelic releases dedicated to sports and railways have been the most appealing to foreign collectors.

The services offered by the Essen International Stamp Fair also include a Philatelic Round Table with discussions, lectures and presentations.
