Latvijas Pasts releases the second stamp in the series History of Latvian Automobile Construction – it features Ford-Vairogs V8

Latvijas Pasts has released the second stamp in the series History of Latvian Automobile ConstructionUnique Exhibits of Riga Motor Museum, and it features Ford-Vairogs V8, the car model manufactured by Riga car factory Ford-Vairogs in 1939. The first day cancellation of the stamp is scheduled to take place in Riga post office No. 50 located in the shopping centre Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums, on the 13th of July 2018, from 8 AM to 7 PM.  

The face value of the new stamp dedicated to the history of Latvian automobile construction is €1.39, which corresponds to the cost of sending a registered Class B letter within Latvia, and its print run is 100,000 copies. The release of the stamp is accompanied by the issue of a special cover with a print run of 1,000 copies. The new philatelic releases have been designed by the artist Ģirts Grīva.

Ford-Vairogs was the largest automotive company in the Baltic states, and from September 1937 to 1940 it manufactured cars under the licence of Ford Motor Company in Riga. Ford-Vairogs V8, which can be viewed in the Riga Motor Museum collection, was made in 1939. It was purchased by a doctor from Dobele district before the Second World War.
