Latvijas Pasts releases a special cover on the 125th anniversary of the prominent Latvian actress Anta Klints

Latvijas Pasts has released a special cover and a postmark in honour of Anta Klints (1893–1970), a Latvian actress who would be 125 years old this year. The special cancellation of the cover is scheduled to take place in Riga post office No. 50 located in the shopping centre Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums, Riga from 8 AM to 7 PM on Monday, the 1st of October 2018, which is the actress’ birthday. 

The print run of the cover Anta Klints – 125 is 1,000 copies, and it features a portrait of the actress and the building of the Latvian National Theatre on whose stage the actress created her vivid images. The cover and the special postmark have been designed by the artist Ģirts Grīva. 

The outstanding Latvian actress Anta Klints, whose real name is Anna Emīlija Jekste, was born on the 1st of October 1893 in Liepāja, where she attended classes in acting and singing.

A.Klints started her acting career at Liepāja theatre Liepas in 1912. From 1913 to 1915 she performed at the Liepāja Latvian Theatre, and from 1916 she performed at the New Pēterpils Latvian Theatre for three years. From 1919 to 1970 she was an actress of the Latvian National Theatre, except for a break in 1921–1924 when she performed at the Dailes Theatre. The actress played comic, satirical, dramatic and tragic roles on the theatre stage, as well as created vivid images in films and gained popularity in children’s radio broadcasts.
