Latvijas Pasts releases a special cover on the 200th anniversary of Jelgava History and Art Museum

Latvijas Pasts has released a special cover and a postmark dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the establishment of Jelgava History and Art Museum. The special cancellation of the cover is scheduled to take place in Riga post office No. 50 located in the shopping centre Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums, Riga from 8 AM to 7 PM on Monday, the 15th of October 2018.
 
The print run of the new cover Jelgava History and Art Museum – 200 is 1,000 copies, and it features the building of the museum. The cover and the postmark have been designed by the artist Ģirts Grīva.

Today Jelgava History and Art Museum continues the tradition of Kurzeme Province Museum founded in 1818. The museum provides insight into the cultural, political and economic developments of Jelgava city and municipality from a historical perspective, as well as interesting facts about the city of Jelgava ruined in the Second World War.

The next philatelic release is scheduled for the 19th of October.
