Latvijas Pasts releases new stamps in the Christmas series which are designed by the artist Anita Paegle

As the end-of-the-year holidays are approaching, Latvijas Pasts releases three new stamps in the series Christmas so that everyone can have a chance to send their warm greetings for Christmas and New Year in good time. The first day cancellation of the stamps is scheduled to take place in Riga post office No. 10 at 41/43 Elizabetes Street from 8 AM to 8 PM on Friday, the 22nd of November 2019.

The new releases in the Christmas series have been designed by the well-known Latvian artist and illustrator of children’s books Anita Paegle who has conjured up candid and luminous holiday vibes characteristic of this artist’s style in the most festive stamps of the year. The new stamps have a self-adhesive base and their release is accompanied by the issue of a special holiday cover with a print run of 1,000 copies.

Each of the stamps has a different face value and print run. The stamp with a face value of € 0.50 is suitable for sending an ordinary Class B letter within Latvia and its print run is one million copies. The stamp with a face value of € 0.78 corresponds to the cost of sending an ordinary Class A letter within the European Union or an ordinary Class B letter to any country of the world outside the European Union, and its print run is 200,000 copies.

The stamp with a face value of € 0.85 has a print run of 200,000 copies and it can be used for sending an ordinary Class A letter to any country of the world outside the European Union.

The stamps and the cover Christmas can be viewed here.

Latvijas Pasts launched the Christmas series of stamps in 1994, and so far approximately 70 Christmas stamps with a print run of more than one hundred million copies have been released. The stamps in the Christmas series that have been issued to date are available for viewing here

The next philatelic release is scheduled for the 1st of December.
