Latvijas Pasts has released a set of postage stamps of 2019, which includes all stamps issued during this year – a total of 24 stamp releases, consisting of 34 stamps and one stamp block made up of both traditional stamp series and special original releases. Two special stamps were issued in collaboration with the Latvian parents’ organisation Mammamuntetiem.lv in honour of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day tradition. Three stamp releases are self-adhesive and one of them features a unique irregular shape design. The sets of stamps of 2019 are available in the largest post offices of Latvijas Pasts, in the e-shop of Latvijas Pasts, as well as in the Greeting House in the Christmas Market of the Dome Square.

The set of Latvijas Pasts stamps of 2019 includes a total of 24 stamp releases, comprising 34 stamps and one stamp block, with their total print run amounting to 5 million copies. The set of postage stamps is a convenient way of collecting stamps, as it contains all stamps issued this year, ensuring their functional use and visibility.

The sets of the most recent stamps are available for everyone interested in the largest post offices of Latvijas Pasts, in the e-shop of Latvijas Pasts and – until the 31st of December – in the special post office of Latvijas Pasts in the Greeting House in the Christmas Market of the Dome Square, Riga.

In 2019 Latvijas Pasts released two special stamps in collaboration with the Latvian parents’ organisation Mammamuntetiem.lv in honour of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day tradition. Both stamps make up a set, conveying the message of the value and importance of the family in society.

Three philatelic releases of 2019 have been issued on a self-adhesive base: the releases in the series Coats of Arms of Latvian Towns and Municipalities, the thematic Summer Solstice stamp Līgo wreath and the stamps in Christmas series. The stamp Līgo wreath has been designed in an irregular shape and this is the second stamp of this kind issued by Latvijas Pasts.

Continuing the celebration of the centenary of the State of Latvia, new stamps have been issued in honour of the 100th anniversary of the University of Latvia, the Art Academy of Latvia, the Latvian Army and the Latvian National Armed Forces Staff Battalion.

The issue of well-known and traditional stamp series also continued in 2019, including series such as Outstanding Latvian Artists with the stamp dedicated to the painter Johans (Jānis) Valters, Unique Exhibits of Latvian Museum of Natural History, Lighthouses of Latvia and Latvian Architecture. This year the stamps in the single Europa series featured the ornithology theme, and the History of Latvian Automobile Construction series was continued in collaboration with Riga Motor Museum.

The Latvian postage stamp issue plan is determined by the Stamp Issue Committee.
