Latvijas Pasts releases a stamp dedicated to the centenary of Riga State Technical School

Latvijas Pasts has released a new stamp in honour of the 100th anniversary of Riga State Technical School. The first day cancellation of the stamp is scheduled to take place in Riga post office No. 10 at 41/43 Elizabetes Street from 8 AM to 8 PM on the 10th of January 2020.

The print run of the new stamp is 100,000 copies and its face value of € 1.00, which corresponds to the postage of letter-post items in the weight class up to 20 grams within Latvia. The release of stamp is accompanied by the issue of a special cover with a print run of 1,000 copies. The philatelic releases have been designed by the artist Ģirts Grīva.

The stamp and the cover feature the central building of Riga State Technical School at 1c Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street.

Riga State Technical School was founded on the 29th of December 1919, but its origins date back before World War I, when the development of agriculture and industry triggered a growing demand for specialists with vocational secondary education. Currently Riga State Technical School has nine departments and four divisions in regions with a total of more than 2,500 students.

The new stamp and the cover Riga State Technical School – 100 can be viewed here.

The next philatelic release is scheduled for the 31st of January 2020.
